God is able

Thursday, March 07, 2013

Eph 3:20 'Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think...'

God exceeds our highest dreams when we pray the prayer of faith.  Ask OR think.  Both our asking and our thinking are powerful.  Our thoughts are as loud as our prayers to God.  We need to align our thoughts with our prayers so that one is not cancelling out the other.  The word 'think' means to dream, imagine, conceive and perceive.  What do you 'see' happening in your future.  That vision is like a prayer that God will do exceedingly above.

Surrender

Tuesday, February 26, 2013

Romans 12:1 'I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.'

Jesus died for us, now we are called to die to ourselves, for Him & thus live a life of sacrifice. The only way we can truly follow Christ is to pick up our cross & deny ourselves. This is the key to victory. Our physical life needs to be on the altar. Our time, activities, work, play & finances! When we give ourselves to God, He renders us set apart, holy! faith pleases God - the joyful, confident, positive, courageous, fearless life comes from a clear conscience & knowing we are right with god through the work of Christ.

Loved

Tuesday, January 22, 2013

Malachi 1:2 "I have loved you." says the LORD. But you say, "How have you loved us?"

The people were looking for reasons to justify not serving God, & not bringing their best for offerings. So, they questioned God's love. Many do this - 'If God loved us, then why did this happen? Or 'If He loved me, He would have answered my prayer!' Therefore, I'm not going to give Him my best.' BUT - God has loved us - We must focus on all the good things we have  - All comes from the generous hand of God. Focus on what you have, not what you don't have. Begin with salvation, Jesus, the Cross, the Holy Spirit, the Word, the Church. Become breathless in worship, thanking God all day long for the immense love He has brought to our lives. Rather than question His love, declare His love for you.

Fearless

Thursday, December 27, 2012

Isa 40:10  'Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.'

God's presence extinguishes fear. 365 'fear nots' in scripture. One for every day! Every day He is with us. He tells us He is with us because sometimes it doesn't feel like it. But He is. Believe His Word. Don't be discouraged or disappointed when you don't get what you want. That's not your God. Jesus is! & He's enough. If He's first, everything else falls into place. He will make you stronger than anything you are facing & He will help you with what you are trying to do. He will help you with family, with finances, house, ministry, with everything.

Recovery

Monday, November 26, 2012

1 Sam 30:8 So David enquired of the Lord, saying, "Shall I pursue this troop?  Shall I overtake them?" And He answered him, "Pursue, for you shall surely overtake them and without fail recover all."

David had just lost everything, his family , his possessions and his entire army turned against him wanting to kill him because they too had lost everything to the Amalekite invasion of their hometown, Biklag. David was completely alone. He encouraged himself in the Lord, something every leader has to do on his lonely days. When his faith was stronger, he asked the Lord if he should attempt to recover what the enemy had taken. David was an accomplished military expert, yet he still submitted his plans to God for a YES or NO. He didn't rush off to attack the Amalekites asking God to be with him. This was David's secret, 'surrender & obedience to God.' The answer - 'Pursue & you'll recover everything.' God doesn't do it all for us. We need to go out & do the business of recovery. David defeated the enemy & not only got all his men's families & goods back, and his own, but also all the spoils the Amalekites had taken from all the other towns they had ravaged. David's worst day became one of his best because he committed his way to the Lord!

Win, Win!

Ps 92:4 For you, Lord, have made me glad through Your work; I will triumph in the works of Your hands.

God's work in anyones life brings joy, even if we weep for a night, joy will come in the morning. Our triumphs in life are not by our effort but by the work of God. The work of Jesus on the cross has given me victory over sin, over the devil, over sickness, over death itself. Even in areas we are weak in, like business, family, money, relationships - He will do works that we can triumph in. His strength fills up our weakness. He redeems our worst mistakes making them our greatest victories. He didn't save us to give us a life of failure & defeat, but a life of abundance & victory! This is to his glory!

Rise. Walk!

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Acts 3:6....'In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk." 7 And he took him by the right hand and lifted him up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength. 8 So he leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them - walking, leaping and praising God.'

Peter had told the paralysed man to look at them. He looked & saw faith & love. He saw the smile of God. When we see God smiling on us, believing in us that we can do what we have never done before, we leap inside. We think parts of our life are broken & will never work but God smiles on you today & says Rise, Walk!  Christ makes you whole. You are no longer paralysed. You are set free. God doesn't frown on you. All disapproval has been taken by Jesus. You are fearless, no longer paralysed or disabled. This is how Jesus sees you. We appropriate truth, the finished realities of the cross by acting on the Word. Step out!

This is work!

Monday, October 29, 2012

John 6:29 'Jesus answered and said to them, "This is the work of God, that you believe in Him whom He sent."

The hardest work on earth is to have faith when your'e afraid, to believe when you want to doubt, to speak faith and be positive, when you feel negative.  Hard work is to switch on your emotions from joyless unbelief, to joyful believing, speaking the promises straight into your giant problem.  Hard work is to not feel sorry for yourself & accuse others & even God of not caring when everything goes wrong, but rather believing everything will work out for good.  Hard work is making your mind meditate on the promises of God instead of the problem.  But as we make this effort, His power empowers us and we enter into rest (Heb 4:11) and walk effortlessly in victory.  His grace works in us by faith! (Eph 2:8) Believe!

Boring!

Monday, October 22, 2012

Jer 2:13  "For my people have committed two evils:  They have forsaken Me, the fountain of living waters, And hewn themselves cisterns - broken cisterns that can hold no water.

The most boring life is pursuing our own pleasures, wealth, experiences.  We hear it all the time, 'I'm bored.'  Even people who shouldn't be bored  - they've got everything, feel empty & unsatisfied.  Hell has no bottom.  It can never be satisfied.  The wells we dig apart from God are broken.  They will not quench our thirst.  Only God can do that.  Abiding in Christ is a permanent, every moment, every day experience, in prayer, Word, fellowship, ministry.  This satisfies - no matter what we have or where we are!  He is our undying, 'always there' fountain.  CONNECT.

Do it!

Monday, October 15, 2012

Luke 5:4 'When He had stopped speaking, He said to Simon, "Launch out into the deep and let down your nets for a catch.."

Jesus had just used Peter's boat to teach from.  He now 'pays' Peter the 'rent'. God doesn't abuse people.  However, we need to take action to appropriate what He wants to give us. Peter had to obey & step out in faith against his own better judgement.  The carpenter told the fisherman how to to his job after an entire night of failure. Peter caught such an abundance that it broke his net.  That is why Jesus told him to take nets. It's important to obey God in the details. Peter's faith wasn't that high though. He was completely shocked at the huge catch of fish as were all the other fishermen. God does exceedingly above our expectations! The great lesson though was not about catching fish, but about catching people, for the Kingdom. Even though we may have worked hard all night & caught nothing, now is our time for a breakthrough.  Obey God & launch out!
