When I attended The School of fine Arts in Christchurch New Zealand my aim was to become a sculptor. So, after many years of painting, I have decided to form some of the figures of my paintings into sculpted forms. I find there is a definite romance in the volume of a figure filling space with body language more than carefully defined features. As with my painitngs, the impressionistic style is an attempt to engage the imagination of the viewer to give faces and specifics to the figures. Hopefully, some inspiration will arise from the worshipping, or praying people, and also some reflection from images such as Mary and Gabriel, or The Proposal.
