John 13:34 ‘A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

John 13:35 ‘By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.’

As Christians we may wish to be known by our morality, our denomination, our values for life, our music, culture, dedication, excitement, but Jesus says that its love that will define us as followers, as disciples of His.

Paul describes love in the famous chapter 1 Corinthians 13.

Patient. No matter how we are treated, love is slow to anger. This is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Stanton regarded Lincoln with more contempt than any man. He called him a 'low cunning clown', and nicknamed him, 'the original gorilla'. He told the French explorer, Dr. Chailles he was a fool to wander about South Africa trying to capture a gorilla when he could find one so easily in Springfield, Missouri. Yet, Lincoln made Stanton his war Minister because he was the best man for the job and treated him courteously. After Lincoln was assassinated, Stanton stood in the little room Lincoln was laid, and said through the tears, 'There lies the greatest ruler of men the world has ever seen. The patience of love conquered in the end.
