Momentum

There are many great ways to get ourselves moving, to get momentum. If your circumstances are stuck, then maybe something spiritual in your world needs to change. We need a jolt to get us going. If our heart for God is dead, If we have no desire, no hunger, no excitement about Him, about serving Him, about His house we need a spiritual heart starter.

Psalm 122:1  I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the LORD."

This is one of 15 Psalms beginning at Ps 120 which all begin with Hebrew words meaning ‘Songs of steps’, or, ‘Pilgrim Songs’. They are songs about keeping momentum as the Israelites travelled from Babylon to Jerusalem. They are also thought to be sung by the Levite priests as they ascended the steps of the temple, plus by the Israelites coming from all over the nation to worship at Jerusalem at the three annual festivals. Whenever they were used though, they indicated that people were moving with a purpose to a destination where they would serve God, meet with Him and secure His blessing over their lives. They are mostly joyful songs and all them are faith building bringing hope to the singers.

The prophets Isaiah and Micah also speak of the same sentiment

Isaiah 2:3 Many people shall come and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, To the house of the God of Jacob; He will teach us His ways, And we shall walk in His paths. For out of Zion shall go forth the law, And the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

The greatest momentum we need is spiritual momentum. If we are stuck spiritually, this will cause our entire life to become stuck. Our physical life and circumstances will follow our quality of spiritual life.

We need to be taking ground spiritually. This means we have steadfastness in following Christ. Here are four ways that we can remain steadfast;

1. Church. We don’t attend church. We are the church. We assemble together every week to fulfill the purposes of God in worshipping Him, reaching out to new people, bringing tithes and giving to Him and receiving teaching and the prophetic Word of the Lord, to pray together and to minister the power of God into people’s lives. This is the House of God, the gate of Heaven.

2. Prayer. We cannot know God and be empowered and hear from Him if we don’t take the time to be with Him.

3. Scripture. It is so important to increase our understanding and revelation in the Scripture.

4. Ministry. Serving Christ. All of us are called to do something for the Lord. Actually many things. We have got to move on from Jesus being just our Saviour to Him being our Lord. We must move from seeing what He can do for us to what we can do for Him. We all have gifts and callings that we are to use and we will grow stronger and stronger in Him as we serve Him.

Everyone has the itch to grow, to progress, to expand, and to increase. Even Jesus had to grow.

Luke 2:52  And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favor with God and men.

There are many great ways to get ourselves moving, to get momentum. Sometimes a great kickstart is the best - like Presence conference. If your circumstances are stuck, then maybe something spiritual in your world needs to change. We need a jolt to get us going. If our heart for God is dead, If we have no desire, no hunger, no excitement about Him, about serving Him, about His house we need a spiritual heart starter.

Once our heart for God is revived, everything else follows easily. A kickstart happens when God meets with you, generally in a moment of crisis, sometimes because you got so desperate about something that you decided to set your heart to seek Him and find Him. Sometimes it’s because you get found out on some sin you have been engaged in. Sometimes you read a book, meet a person, feel conviction and decide you must make a change.

Once we have the kickstart we need to set in motion certain daily habits because this is what will give you traction and momentum. The reason we get stuck is because we try to do certain disciplines without it being a daily discipline. Trees don’t grow without their roots remaining in the water. They don't grow by occasionally dipping them in water.

Psalm 122:1  I was glad when they said to me, "Let us go into the house of the LORD.”

The best way to maintain a great habit is to do something together with other people. These are the best friends you could have. People who say to you, ‘Let’s go to the House of the Lord’.

What are the people who surround you saying to you?

Make sure the people around you will influence you to travel with them into the Presence of God, into serving Christ, into doing something amazing in life for God. Especially if you’re stuck, you’ll need friends to pick you up, carry you, and bring you into the Presence of Jesus.
