About Phil

Everything begins with words. In this message we look at the power of declaring God's word over our lives and our calling to prophesy the Word.

John 1:1-3 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made.

Everything begins with the Word. Every miracle, every new phase, every visitation of God to people in history began with God speaking. God has a word for you as we begin this new year. The Word may be faith building, wisdom imparting, guidance, comfort, assurance. Whatever it is it will ultimately build you up and cause you to enter into all He has for you.

Acts 20:23 So now, brethren, I commend you to God and to the word of His grace, which is able to build you up and give you an inheritance among all those who are sanctified.

We hold together when the Word is held in our heart, but it mustn't remain in our hearts alone. Here are three points on speaking the Word of God over our lives:

1. We are called to speak God's Word in this world.

His word is a creative power. In that sense we are all called to prophesy.

1 Corinthians 14:31 For you can all prophesy one by one, that all may learn and all may be encouraged.

1 Corinthians 14:3 But he who prophesies speaks edification and exhortation and comfort to men. He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.

From these scriptures we can see these points on prophesying the Word;

  • All of us are called to prophesy.
  • It should build the church, not tear it down.
  • It speaks positively about the future.
  • Has insight into the unseen.
  • We hear from God and speak that message.

Everything begins with words. God has arranged that the worlds are created by words. Not only are they created but they are sustained by the Word.

Colossians 1:17 He is before all things, and by Him all things hold together.

2. The Word Of God Is A Seed.

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God

If we fail to understand this parable we will be unable to understand all the parables. Understanding the power of the Word of God is imperative if we are to understand everything else Jesus was communicating.

The parable of the seed and sower is about the power of the Word germinating within us and producing a harvest after it's own kind. What we speak we plant in our hearts.

Hebrews 10:23 We must continue to hold firmly to our declaration of faith. The one who made the promise is faithful.

The word declaration is a Greek word meaning to say the same thing as God. What He says should be what we say. The power of prophesy is through our mouth. If our brain is a computer, our mouth is the keyboard. We are programming our brain whenever we are speaking. What we let in becomes the information we believe.

We cannot afford to think that we can talk however we like and nothing will happen. We have immense power in the declaration of our mouth.

3. When We Speak The Word Of God, We Activate The Word Of God.

Whenever God spoke, the Holy Spirit began to move. The Spirit watches over the Word to perform it and will manifest the reality of the Word. When we speak the Word, God moves.

Ezekiel 37:10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath entered them. Then they came to life and stood on their feet. There were enough of them to form a very large army.

When we prophesy, the wind begins to blow in our lives. It puts faith where there is doubt, peace where there is confusion, love where there is hate, light where there is darkness, a way where there is no way. The Bible is the final, authoritative and authentic Word of God in the earth.

God created us.

This is His book revealing how we operate at our best.
