As we wrap up our "soul detox" series, we hear from Ps Chris Pringle sharing a message on Clean Living out of Psalm 103.
Psalm 103:4-5 [amp]
Who redeems your life from the pit and corruption,
Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy; Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that youryouth, renewed, is like the eagle's [strong, overcoming and soaring]
Psalm 103 is a beautiful psalm indeed. We have covered in this series the power of forgiveness and healing in Christ, the power of worshiping Christ and this week – the transforming life of Christ with " all that is within me" to renew our personal lives and detox our souls!
Jesus is the all round TRANSFORMER!
From the inside out – HE cares for us in every way – BODY | SOUL | SPIRIT.
My dryer has a habit of stopping with a very annoying "ding ding ding" alarm – then it tells me "readjust your load"!
As annoying and inconvenient this is so often it's just what we need to do.
My naturopath is always advising me "Chris, you need to 're- adjust' your load” As we work through getting my life detoxed and in better working order I am freshly aware of what I need to throw away and what I need to deposit IN!
1. Jesus Who Redeems Us
V4 " WHO REDEEMS your life from the pit and corruption!"
Jesus, who reclaims, recovers our lives ... exchanges our old for His new.
He stands as our advocate to emancipate our SOULS! JESUS our "RANSOM - REDEEMER"!
Psalm 107:1-2 - O give thanks to the Lord for He is GOOD ! For His mercies endure forever. Let the REDEEMED of the Lord SAY SO, whom He has redeemed from the hand of the enemy...
Andre Crouch sang... [say so, say so- let the redeemed of the Lord say so...if you've been redeemed by the blood of the Lord... Don't you think it's time...We oughta say sooooo!]
2. He Who Beautifies, Dignifies and Deifies Us
V4 Who beautifies, dignifies, and crowns you with loving-kindness and tender mercy;
Jesus beautifies, dignifies and deifies our lives with mercy and loving kindness!
BEAUTIFIES
Beauty is so much more than skin deep! It's an inner beauty that JESUS clothes us with! It's a garment! When I think of someone who beautifies a place with their presence, I think of JESUS. He just has a way with words, mannerisms and His presence to lights up our lives! He knows howto win our hearts. He beautifies our souls!!
Psalm 149:4 [amp] - For the Lord takes pleasure in His people; He will beautify the humble with salvation and adorn the wretched with victory.
Psalm 90:17 [amp] - And let the beauty and delightfulness and favor of the Lord our God be upon us; confirm and establish the work of our hands–yes, the work of our hands, confirm and establish it.
Isaiah 61:3 describes all three soul building qualities JESUS has bestowed on us!
To grant [consolation and joy] to those who mourn in Zion–to give them an ornament (a garland or diadem) of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, the garment [expressive]of praise instead of a heavy, burdened, and failing spirit–that they may be called oaks of righteousness [lofty, strong, and magnificent, distinguished for uprightness, justice, and right standing with God], the planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.
Jesus has clothed us with beauty, dignity and royal standing IN CHRIST | IN HIM This is what Jesus did for us who did not feel worthy at all. But Jesus just kept on pouring out His love, filling us with The Holy Spirit and giving us hope. Hope in Him and hope in ourselves...
Psalm 148:31 [amp] - He has lifted up a horn for His people [giving them power, prosperity, dignity, and preeminence], a song of praise for all His godly ones, for the people of Israel, who are near to Him. Praise the Lord! (Hallelujah!)
So many women and girls have been stripped of their dignity – but Jesus has redeemed our dignity on the cross He took our indignity on Himself so we could be restored to dignity!
Philippians 2:7 [amp] - But stripped Himself [of all privileges and rightful dignity], so as to assume the guise of a servant (slave), in that He became like men and was born a human being.
This is our JESUS who loves us so much! Thank you Lord.
Proverbs 21:35 [amp] - Strength and dignity are her clothing and her position is strong and secure; she rejoices overthe future [the latter day or time to come, knowing that she and her family are in readiness forit]!
Isaiah 62:3 [amp] - You shall also be [so beautiful and prosperous as to be thought of as] a crown of glory and honor in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem [exceedingly beautiful] in the hand of your God.
3. He Satisfies Us
Psalm 103:5 [amp] - Who satisfies your mouth [your necessity and desire at your personal age and situation] with good so that your youth, renewed, is like the eagle's [strong, overcoming, soaring]
Isaiah 40:31 [amp] - But those who wait for the Lord [who expect, look for, and hope in Him] shall change and renewtheir strength and power; they shall lift their wings and mount up [close to God] as eagles [mount up to the sun]; they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint or become tired.
What a promise!
IN CHRIST we are renewed in youthfulness, strength and vitality! Jesus is the best youth pill you need! Drink of Him the ‘gos-pill’ and you will have a life washed of all toxins and old life.
Don’t suppress the Spirit, and don’t stifle those who have a word from the Master. On the other hand, don’t be gullible. Check out everything, and keep only what’s good. Throw out anything tainted with evil.
1 Thessalonians 5:19-24 [msg] - May God himself, the God who makes everything holy and whole, make you holy and whole, put you together—spirit, soul, and body— and keep you fit for the coming of our Master, Jesus Christ.The One who called you is completely dependable. If he said it, he’ll do it!
